Gun Mechanics
Reloading, aiming, ammunition, firing modes and armour interaction.
Gun Mechanics
Combat on Minecraft Breakdown is built on top of Flan's Mod, but with several quirks that aren't obvious at a glance. Knowing them keeps you alive in fights that would otherwise feel unfair.
Reloading and aiming
- Opening your inventory mid-reload cancels the reload, so finish it first if you can.
- Aiming down the sight massively improves accuracy compared to hip-firing.
- You cannot aim down the sight whilst sprinting.
- Crouching noticeably reduces recoil.
- Each weapon has its own aim-down-sight speed, which matters for close-quarters draws.
Ammunition and projectiles
- Different magazines have different bullet velocities and penetration values, so the same gun can perform very differently depending on what you've loaded.
- Shells, missiles, bullets and sniper rounds all have flyby effects, which give defenders an audible warning that fire is coming in.
- Explosions can damage through blocks, with the amount of damage transferred depending on the block's blast resistance.
Firing modes
Most weapons can be toggled between single fire and full auto by pressing G (default keybind). Switching to single fire is often the difference between a clean two-tap and an empty mag.
Hit markers
- Red — headshot.
- Yellow — body shot.
- White — explosive damage.
Armour and damage
As with vanilla Minecraft, every piece of armour you're wearing contributes to your overall damage resistance. There's no "armour slot that matters most". If a slot is empty, you're noticeably softer.
